I’m Not Dead Yet
Sorry for the radio silence here. My life has been a flurry of activity. Between being busy at work, having finals, my room mate moving out, and a few other things, it has been a perfect storm of me not writing.
I hope to write get a couple things out this week.
Writer #2
I think Mord was really eager for me to post last week, so I feel bad posting this a week after he announced it. Anyway, I am the oft-referred-to "Rynala." I'm going to put it out there right away--I'm completely new to blogging, let alone game blogging. I probably won't match Mord's word count when it comes to posts. I guess I'll start off with my gaming resume of sorts.
I got into video games via my older brother, starting on the classic NES with Battletoads, Double Dragon, Super Dodgeball, to name a few. I progressed to Sega and the N64, but never SNES or Playstation, until a couple years after the PS2 came out. My brother and I played on the N64 for a very long time, much longer than anyone should play on a console, and with very few good games. I did play the hell out of Ocarina of Time, but for the most part I didn't consider myself a gamer. At one point, I got into a couple of PC games, Alice and Clive Barker's Undying. On a trip to the Philippines in '05, I got a hold of bootleg copies of Warcraft III and Half-Life. The latter I played almost to completion. I got too frustrated with the high levitating platforms near the end. While I did not actually finish Warcraft, I watched my brother play a majority of it. I never got much into MMOs until I met Mord. I played Ragnarok on a private server for about a month, got up to level 99--twice...? And then quit. If you've ever tried playing it, maybe you can explain to me how leveling works on that game.
Currently, I mainly play MMOs with Mord, and tachose include Wizard 101, Guild Wars, Chinese Aion, and on the rare occasion, WoW. When not gaming with Mord, I try to play Strongbad's Cool Game for Attractive People, and I'm working on finishing Crayon Physics. Which are Mord's, not mine.
The New Addition
Unfortunately, I was away from home all this weekend so I did not get the chance to write up a proper blog post for today. I want to, however, make the announcement that Rynala is going to start making occasional blog posts on this site. Her first post will hopefully be posted sometime this week.
I hope you all enjoy her thoughts and views. Her posts will most likely be about her thoughts on the current games out or features they contain. She has only been playing MMOs for about a year now so she is still relatively new to the genre so I very much enjoy her views as someone who has not been around since the beginning.
Hopefully, I will get a proper post up tomorrow and she will have one out sometime this week.
Blogging Slow Down
For the next six weeks, I am going to be in the Air Force's Airman Leadership School so expect my blogging to slow down. 95% of my blog writing takes place at work and since I will be in class those times, the only time I have to blog is when at home and not working on homework. I will still try to get posts out (maybe just once a week or so) but do not hold me to it.
I will be back to normal early to mid-August.
New Theme New PC
Just bought a brand new PC today as the old one I had built was starting to fail. While I have been installing a bunch of my games, I took the time to change up the theme for the blog. Have a look and let me know what you think.
Also, if you are interested and have not already, post a comment on the previous post for a chance at an Aion beta key. I am going to probably close the post after Monday and post the two winners on Tuesday.
RSS Problems
It seems like some of the code changes I had made to my blog was messing up the RSS feed and making posts show up in RSS readers 8-12 hours late, if at all. I have eliminated that code and the problem should be gone now.
Also, over the coming days I plan to be changing the layout of the blog. So if you visit my main site and everything looks screwed up, you'll know why.
31 Days to a Better Mordiceius
First Matticus, then Kestrel, and then Galoheart, it seems like everyone is going through Darren Rowse's "31 Days to Building a Better Blog". Well color me interested.
I have always been a fan of self-improvement and so I figure I will jump on the bandwagon as well. Being relatively new to blogging, I feel like my blog is lacking at times and could use improvement in many different areas. I hope this 31 day program can help me better myself and this blog.
In essence: expect changes over the next month or so.
Life Isn’t Fair
First, she gets a polar bear mount months ago and today she gets the green protodrake mount. I still have neither. Rynala gets everything good. 
No Time To Blog – Too Sick
Between sleeping and vomiting, I have had no time to blog this week. Hopefully I will start writing again next week.
Frigid Vacation
Well the blogging drought for me will continue for at least another two weeks. Tomorrow marks the start of my vacation. Usually I think of nice warm beaches when it comes to vacation but this time I am going to visit my parents in the frigid northlands (northern Idaho).
I have been working on the design document for my dream game (instead of just talking about it, I want to try my hand at actual design). Between WoW and other games, that has been coming slowly. I will post more about it when I get back from vacation.
As for WoW, I have been busy with my current guild. The guild got Immortal for the first time (and with it many people got their black proto-drake). Unfortunately, I was not in the raid at the time and I probably will not get my drake before 3.1 because of the vacation and having spent too much time out of the raiding scene. My only hope is that 3.1 is still 4-6 weeks off.
We finally got all of the items replaced from the break-in last month. One nice outcome is that we were able to buy Rynala a really nice desktop replacement laptop (her last laptop was very low grade). Now she is able to play games like WoW, Mass Effect and Bioshock all at max settings with no slow down.
When I replaced the 360 I picked up Grand Theft Auto 4, Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, and Culdcept Saga. Onechanbara is absolutely terrible but it is one of those games I just love to hate. It is incredibly bloody but I will probably finish it just because I am a masochist. I have not had a chance to try Culdcept Saga but it is supposed to be a really spectacular collectable card style game and I find myself really excited for it. Lastly, I have only played about two hours of GTA4 and have been enjoying it. It is the same formula again but still enjoyable for me. I spend more of my time laughing at stuff on the radio than caring about what the characters have to say.
Anyway, I will see you guys on the other side of this much needed vacation.
